Mount Vernon Creek Fishery and Wildlife Area

The 30-acre Mount Vernon Creek Fishery and Wildlife Area is a public hunting and fishing area located on STH 92 just west of Mt. Vernon on the northern edge of Donald County Park. Walk-in access to the property is available from a gravel lot located in the adjacent Mount Vernon Creek Fishery Area managed by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR). The primary recreational opportunities are fishing and deer and turkey hunting. Much of the property consists of wetlands and crop fields.

For more information on hunting and trapping in Dane County Wildlife Areas, please visit our Hunting webpage.

Special hunting regulations:

  • Firearms and bows must be in a case for hunters accessing the wildlife area from Donald County Park south of the creek.
  • Trapping is only allowed on the WDNR lands.
