Looking for a new way to get outside and explore nature? Try geocaching!
Geocaching is an outdoor activity that combines hiking with technology to create an outdoor treasure hunt experience. Instead of a paper map where X marks the spot, you can use an app on a smartphone (Geocaching.com) or another GPS device. Using your mobile device, you locate “caches,” usually small waterproof containers, that contain a logbook where you can sign your name after finding the cache. Some also contain items for trading - such as stickers, toys, etc – so bring something if you want to exchange an item.
If you are interested in placing a geocache in a Dane County Park, please see the rules and restrictions outlined on the Wisconsin Geocache Association website.
