Event Description
Enjoy the outdoors, learn about the natural world, and forge new friendships by joining the Friends of Donald Park on a restoration workday. This winter we will continue to clear invasive species from an oak savanna site to foster the preservation and rejuvenation of white and bur oak trees. We may also cast seed on some of the sites we have restored over the last couple of years. We will work in teams and no experience is necessary. What to wear: Dress for the weather, layers are best, sturdy shoes, and garden or leather gloves if you have then, (We have some to lend out). What to bring: Please bring water. We will provide tools and cookies at break time. Meeting location: Hitchcock Farmstead, 1870 Sutter Drive. Drive past the "No Park Access" signs to a dead end and park in the circular area near the barn. If you can join us, please RSVP to the work party leader by the Friday before the workday so we have enough tools on hand and can reach you if weather forces to cancel. Please arrive at 12:45 PM to check in.
