Paddle in the Park - Waubesa Wetlands Tour
Event Dates
- Sunday, 09/29/2024 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Event Description
Join us for a morning paddle and tour of the Waubesa Wetlands with the Friends of Waubesa Wetlands. This is a beginner level paddle on Lake Waubesa, leaving and returning to Goodland County Park. The paddle will depart from Goodland County Park and head south along the coastline stopping to see Swan Creek, Murphys Creek, and Bogholt Big Spring. Along the way you will learn about the importance of these wetlands to the entire Yahara River watershed. Come see this "living museum" from a new point of view!
We have 10 canoes available to rent or you can bring your own boat. Canoes can comfortably fit 3 adults or 2 adults and 1-2 children. Children must attend the program with an adult and an adult must be in the boat if there is a child under the age of 10.
Staff will instruct you on basic paddling techniques, water safety, and then get you out on the water for the tour! Staff will be on the water to assist you during the event. PFDs must be worn at all times.
Cost: $20 per boat rental, $10 per bring your own boat (Note: When registering, only register one ticket per boat)
Age: All
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late without contacting us, we will continue on with the paddle without you. Registration fees will support the Dane County Parks Education Program and the Friends of Waubesa Wetlands.
To learn more about the wetlands, join us in the evening for a free screening of the film An Invitation to Wonder: Waubesa Wetlands.
